If you notice that the last 4 digits of your bank account number don’t match the one shown in Plaid, this can happen when a Virtual Account Number (VAN) is being used.
Steps to Identify Your Linked Bank Account
🔍 Check Your Plaid Dashboard
Log in to your Plaid account through your nonprofit's giving flow and view your connected accounts. You should be able to see the associated bank names and other details.
📋 Compare Account Names
Sometimes, VANs appear as separate accounts. Compare the account names and types listed in Plaid with your actual bank accounts.
📝 Look at Transaction History
Check the transaction history associated with the virtual account to see if it matches transactions from a specific bank account.
📞 Contact Your Bank
If you're still unsure, you can reach out to your bank for confirmation. They may be able to verify which account the Virtual Account Number is linked to.
Best Practices
🏦 Connect One Bank Account at a Time
If you link multiple bank accounts, it can be tricky to tell how each will appear in your Donor Profile, especially if Virtual Account Numbers are involved.
- 🟢 To keep things simple, we recommend connecting one bank account at a time.
- ✅ This makes it easier to confirm how each account is saved and helps avoid confusion.
