Why Aren’t DAF Gifts Included on Giving Statements?

If you’ve made a gift through a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF), you might notice it does not show up on your nonprofit’s giving statement. This is normal and relates to how DAF gifts are processed for tax purposes.

When you contribute to your DAF, you receive the charitable tax deduction at that time. Later, when you recommend a grant from your DAF to a nonprofit, the funds are sent from your DAF sponsor to the organization.

  • ✅ Since the deduction is already claimed when the donation is made to your DAF, the grant to the nonprofit does not create an additional tax benefit.
  • 📑 This is why a DAF grant won't appear alongside your other donations, even though your nonprofit may have received the funds.
