One Tap Is All It Takes
Overflow Tap utilizes NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, allowing you to connect directly to your organization’s donation link, landing page, or website with just a tap of your phone. ⚡️
📲 For iPhones (iOS)
Most iPhones come with built-in NFC that lets you scan a Tap device without needing a separate app! ✅
- 🤳🏽 iPhone XS and Newer: Simply bring the top of your phone close to the Tap device, and a notification should appear.
- 🔦 iPhone 7 to iPhone X: You may need to enable the NFC Tag Reader in your Control Center first.
Tips to Make It Work
- 🔓 Make sure your phone is unlocked.
- ✋🏽 Hold it close to the Tap device for a few seconds.
- If nothing happens, swipe down from the top-right corner of your phone and tap NFC Tag Reader (for iPhone 7–X).
- If you’re prompted, tap Open in Safari or your preferred browser.
- 🪫 If your phone is in Low Power Mode or Airplane Mode, NFC may be disabled.
🤖 For Android Phones
Most Android phones come with NFC functionality, but it might need to be turned on first. Check out this video for a quick walkthrough! 🛠️
To Enable NFC
- ⚙️ Open Settings.
- 🛜 Select Connected devices or Connection preferences.
- ✅ Look for NFC and make sure it’s turned on.
Tips to Make It Work
- 🔓 Make sure your phone is unlocked.
- ↩️ Hold the back of your phone close to the Tap device until you see a notification.
- While the middle of the phone is usually the best spot for a connection, some Android models have their NFC reader near the top or bottom instead.
- If it doesn’t scan immediately, try moving your phone slightly.
- 🖥️ Tap the notification to view the link in your browser.
💭 Still Having Trouble?
We recommend trying these additional troubleshooting tips:
- 📡 Confirm your phone supports NFC.
- Most modern smartphones support NFC, so all Tap devices should work smoothly!
- Some older or budget smartphones may not have NFC functionality (e.g. iPhone 5s or earlier, Samsung Galaxy A10 or A01, or Moto G Power).
- If you’re unsure about your phone’s NFC capabilities, you can check your phone’s specifications or contact your device’s manufacturer.
- 🔄 Restart your phone and try again.
- 🛡️ Remove any thick or metal phone cases, which can sometimes block the signal.
- 🤝🏽 If needed, feel free to reach out to your organization for the direct link as a backup.
