🙋🏽‍♂️ How to Receive Your Statement

Most organizations use Overflow to send giving statements, but some don’t. Either way, the easiest way to get your giving statement is to contact your nonprofit directly. They’ll be happy to help!

Your statement will include:

  • ✅ All confirmed donations made through Overflow
  • ✅ Any imported donations from your nonprofit’s previous giving platform (if they chose to import them)

Note:

  • Refunded, voided, and declined transactions will not appear.
  • 👀 Want a preview? You can check out all your contributions anytime in the Contribution module of your Donor Profile.
  • 🏡 Multiple people in a household? Statements can only be issued individually for each Donor Profile. (Unfortunately, they cannot be combined.)

👋🏽 Statement Delivery Alternatives

  • ⛔️ No email on file? Your nonprofit won’t be able to send your statement electronically, which may cause a delay in receiving it. Make sure your contact details are up-to-date in your Donor Profile.
  • 📬 Prefer a mailed copy? We recommend contacting your organization to see if they can send one to you.
  • If your nonprofit has issued statements through Overflow, you’ll receive an emailed copy, and it will also be available to download from your Donor Profile. 📥
    • ℹ️ Note: If this section is blank, your nonprofit may not have sent statements yet, or they may have issued them outside of Overflow.
    • 📧 Subject: Your Contribution Statement from <Nonprofit>
    • Your organization’s legal name will appear on your statement and may be different from the DBA (Doing Business As) name you’re familiar with. However, it is correctly linked to the nonprofit’s EIN for official records.

🧠 Tax Guidance and Acknowledgments

  1. If your nonprofit is not partnered with Overflow for both cash and noncash giving, you may receive separate statements for each.
    • If any contributions are incorrect or missing, please contact the organization directly for assistance. (Overflow cannot make corrections on their behalf.)
  2. 🧾 Donated $250 or more? For tax filing purposes, the IRS requires a written acknowledgment for any single donation exceeding this amount.
    • Acknowledgment letters serve as formal receipts, detailing the donation amount (except for non-cash assets) and confirming whether any goods or services were received in exchange.

    • Giving statements are still helpful for tax purposes and serve as a summary of your giving, so be sure to keep them for reference!
