If you’ve noticed an unusual email address like @privaterelay.appleid.com connected to your Donor Profile or confirmation emails, you’re not alone. This is part of Apple’s privacy feature called "Hide My Email," which helps protect your personal information.
When you use “Sign in with Apple” when logging into your nonprofit's donation page, Apple gives you the option to either:
- 📧 Share your real email address, or

🔒 Keep your email private using a relay address.
- If you choose to hide your email, Apple creates a unique, private relay email that forwards messages to your actual inbox.

What's a Private Relay Email?
🛡️ Apple’s private relay acts like a shield between your real inbox and the organization you’re interacting with. These relay addresses end in @privaterelay.appleid.com and are unique to each app or website.
- Your nonprofit sees only the Apple-generated email address.
- Emails sent to that address are forwarded to your real inbox.
Why You Might Not Be Receiving Emails
If you’re not receiving from Overflow's donation platform, here are a few reasons why:
- ⛔️ Forwarding May Be Turned Off: You might have disabled email forwarding in your Apple ID settings. When forwarding is off, emails won’t reach your inbox.
- ⛔️ The Relay Address Was Deleted: You may have removed the website's access to your Apple ID, which disables the relay address connected to it.
- ⛔️ Apple Blocked the Message: Apple might block an email if it's flagged as spam, too large, or if it doesn't meet Apple's sending requirements.
Troubleshooting Tips
- ⚙️ Please double-check that forwarding is turned on and that messages are going to the right inbox. You can review your settings here.
